Cartagena ( Murcia) is taking advantage of all of the upheaval in the city streets to build a 30 kilometre cycle track through the city. This was announced recently by the councillor for sustainable development.Cartagena has two main cycle tracks ,one across the city centre and another in the Ensanche area near the Mandareche shopping centre ,which will be extended.Three public “rent a bike ” stands have already been installed in the town at the local sports hall ,the department for youth and the tourist office.Further stands are due to be installed in the months ahead.

La Manga,in Murcia is to have almost another 100 street lights installed  on the RM-12 motorway to La Manga del Mar Menor in Los belones. There have been a number of accidents in this area and the additional lighting is hoped to reduce the number of these accidents. The regional department has said that 40% of the accidents happen at night ,which means that 60% of them happen in broad daylight,so maybe they should be saving their money as fewer happen in the dark, possibly because people are taking more care.
