Plan Qualifica is underway for eight Costa del Sol towns. They are Benalmadena,Estepona,Casares,Marbella,Fuengirola,Mijas Torremolinos and Manilva. This plan is highly innovative and will cost over 70 million euros .It involves the building of coastal observatories which will jut out into the sea and will be accessible from the land or by sea. Each town will have a different theme for its observatory. One example quoted was that the theme could focus on the fishing industry of the town.
Already architects models are available and it is hoped that there will be tangible and observable results to the project by the end of the year. All of the plans were welcomed by the Mayors of each town as well as the business community as it is hoped that these piers will enhance the coast and bring in more tourists.
The Junta de Andalucia Tourist delegate could not give information about the size of these structures, how far out to sea they would be or the cost of them .It seems that these are the ” fine details” and are still being worked on .He did however state that around 70 million euros was available and that he saw no problems with the finance. As soon as the plans have been approved then the contracts will go out to tender.Work would then begin by October this year.
Alongside all of this are projects which are renovating the old town centres of each of the town’s named .The combination of the two projects will enhance the Costa del Sol considerably.
