The Daya Nueva based charity “Crisis”had a visit from the Mayor last week.Pablo Castillo Ferri was given a conducted tour of all of the charities and businesses that are giving their support to the appeal for non-perishable foods, clothing and school materials. The need for such items by families has increased enormously and the organisers were delighted that the Mayor had taken such an interest in what was happening.
The charity was launched at the beginning of the year to help all of those families who have been hardest hit by the economic crisis. They work very closely with the social services department in the town .They have had a good response to the appeal with donations coming from as far afield as Valencia. Many charities now have a special basket in their shops specifically for the “Crisis” team.Supermarkets are doing the same thing in La Marina and San Fulgencio. They are also in constant need of baby food ,baby clothes, pushchairs, cots and such things. The organisers are full of praise for those who are giving to those who are less fortunate than themselves and they hope that over time they will be able to widen their territory.
