Alicante council has made its second 200 euro fine against people who permit their dogs to foul pavements,in one week. The councils special team of local police and inspectors is targeting zones where the fouling of pavements with dog excrement is deemed out of control. The special unit is actually filming the people who allow their animals to defaecate on the pavements,as evidence. They then issue the fines.
The clearing of dog excrement by the council is costing about a million euros a year and this has to stop.It only involves about 5% of the dog owning population but it now requires drastic measures to remedy it .On top of this there is the 200,000 euro bill for installing and maintaining the plastic bag dispensers that have been set up all over the city.Consequently the motto is that whoever decides to make the city dirty will pay to have it cleanrd. The council is also providing special areas where owners can take their animals to the toilet They will be clearly signposted. How it can be beyond an individual to carry a plastic bag with them to pick up their animal’s excrement is beyond comprehension.Keep fining them Alicante .The risk of disease is also another major consideration to consider for the Alicante council.
