Gandia -Denia Rail Link
The MP for the Valencia Province is going to make another bid to resurrect the Gandia to Denia rail link this week .
He has met with the mayor of Oliva to discuss strategies for discussing the matter with the ministry for public works .
The regional government is keen to have the train line which would then have a through line along the coast from Alicante to Valencia .
At the moment the project doesn’t have sufficient support from central government and consequently it doesn’t have enough funding .
There have been no funds allocated in next years budget .

Spanish Troops Arrive At Alicante
Spain has about 800 troops in Afghanistan and this week ore than a hundred of them arrived home at El Altet airport in Alicante .
The plane was an hour late , causing concern for all of the family and friends who were waiting for their return .
These soldiers had been on active duty for four months and they were the third contingent to return to Alicante . Many of the men were from the base in Murcia and others were from Madrid and Seville .
The majority of the Spanish contingent are in Herat as part of the NATO International force . A total of 87 Spanish soldiers have died in Afghamistan so far .
Recently a suicide bomber rammed a Spanish military convoy and killed two and injured several others .
Bigastro Vehicle Check
The Guardia Civil were doing a routine vehicle check in Bigastro near Orihuela when they noticed a car which slowed and then accelerated past them at great speed .
Strangely the car then stopped about 500 metres from the police and a man got out of the car and ran away .
Police checked the car and discovered over 900 grammes of hashish .
Later , it appears the driver discovered that he had been identified and turned himself in to the police at the Jacarilla police station . The man was a 31 year old Moroccan .
