La Nucia’s Race Across the Reservoir at Guadalest .
This was the first time that the La Nucia swimming club had attempted this race across the reservoir at Guadalest .
They gained third place as a team and first place in the team rankings for having the highest numbers of swimmers.
It appears that 204 swimmers took part in the race …
Lifeguard Practice in Moraira Costa Blanca
A training exercise for lifeguards to rescue a swimmer in distress in the sea off Moraira took place last Friday .
It took place at L’Ampolla beach and was organised by the council to test the rescue and emergency services .
A swimmer jumped off the rocks and simulated serious back injuries whilst a lifeguard went to the rescue assisted by two colleagues , bringing him ashore on a special stretcher .
Emergency procedures were put into action with calls to the police , ambulance and civil protection services .
The entire rescue exercise was completed in 11 minutes .
